Since its inception in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, in 1963, Lands’ End has grown to be a major American retailer of casual apparel, luggage, and home décor. Gary Comer was founded by Richard Stearns and Robert Halperin, two gold medal-winning sailors from the 1963 Pan American Games, as well as two of Halperin’s staff. Land’s End was the official provider of USA Rugby Union outfits for a brief while in the late 1980s.

In 2002, Sears paid $2 billion in cash for the business. Lands’ End clothing can be ordered by mail or online at the Lands’ End Inlet store, as well as in numerous Sears retail locations.
