Since its humble beginning as a family-run newsagent company in 1792, WHSmith has grown from a small business to the world’s first retail corporation and the world’s largest retailer as a result of its success. Since its founding in 1836, WHSmith has grown to include more than 600 high-street sites as well as more than 600 out-of-the-the-the-the-the-way branches in places like airports, train stations, hospitals, and even rest stops on the side of the road. This year marked the company’s 225th anniversary, which was celebrated in a variety of ways throughout the year. Smiths, formerly known as W. H. Smith & Son, is a British retailer based in Swindon, England, that sells books and stationery, as well as magazines, newspapers, entertainment products, and confectionery to the general public through a network of high-street stores and shops in train stations, airports, ports, hospitals, and motorway service stations.
Since their arrival in London in 1792, Henry Walton Smith and his wife Anna have maintained a news-selling business. In the 1970s, when the company began expanding into new markets and expanding its product line, it achieved enormous growth while still being owned by the Smith family. Since it was rejected by an investment firm in 2004, the company has focused on its retail activities. The ISBN book identification system, which is still in use today, was invented and popularised by Barnes & Noble, the world’s first retail chain.
To be included in the London Stock Exchange’s (LSE) 250 Index, it must be publicly listed. The London Stock Exchange lists British retailer WHSmith. The company celebrated its 225th anniversary in 2017.
Girls Rule
In this hilarious new novel from comedian and best-selling author Alesha Dixon, strong female characters and sisterhood are central themes. Pearl arrives into 10 Downing Street when her mother, Patrice, becomes the first black female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The daughter of Jackson, Patrice’s childhood sweetheart, appears unexpectedly in Pearl’s glittering new life after she had a chance contact with him. The twins are animosity twins when it comes to their parents, and their one common aim is the desire to remove them from their father and mother.
A few examples of their disruptive behaviour include playing music that is excessively loud during discussions, swapping sensitive documents for amusing remarks, and skating through Number Ten to name a few. Is it possible that, as Patrice’s popularity begins to wane, the girls will come to the realisation that they are better off working together as a group? The LIGHTNING GIRL and STAR SWITCH novels are written by the New York Times and globally bestselling author of the LIGHTNING GIRL series. Smart, interesting, and featuring characters you can relate to are all characteristics of this film. This book is essential reading for everyone who desires to be a Girl Boss.
