Jones Bootmaker is a footwear shop established in the United Kingdom with 42 retail sites throughout the country.
When Alfred and Emma Jones opened their first shop in Bayswater (now Westfield) in 1857, they were in the business of selling shoes. Whenever it came to the installation of electric lights in the retail lighting industry, Jones was a trailblazer. At least nine of their ten offspring went on to work for the company and eventually became its owners under the name A. Jones and Sons, which still exists today. Another innovation was the provision of ready-made shoes in three different widths, which was pioneered by the firm.
As a result of World War II, the company expanded by opening new facilities and renovating existing ones, as well as adding a warehouse in Eastbourne to its operations. Jones became a member of the Church organisation in 1955 as a result of the company’s rapid expansion into retail outlets. Jones Bootmaker was established in 1994 following the establishment of a business in Manchester. In 1996, the company changed its name to Jones Bootmaker.
Jones Bootmaker was sold to a private investor in 2001, and then to a financial consortium in 2006, following Prada’s acquisition of Church’s. Jones Bootmaker is now owned by the Jones family. It was purchased by the Macintosh Retail Group in 2010 and subsequently sold to Apollo Global Management, which then sold it to Alteri Investors in 2015.
After Alteri filed an intention to designate administrators on March 15th, Endless LLP purchased Jones on March 26th in a pre-pack administration transaction, preserving 72 of the company’s sites.
[4] In February of this year, Pavers Shoes announced that it had purchased the Endless chain.
