The freedom they had in Cornwall was exciting for Angus and Ross, but when they ran out of money, they realised they would have to put their artistic abilities to use to survive. They used tape, nails, and a rug from the Salvation Army to create a makeshift blackout system, and they printed t-shirts with surf-themed patterns on an extra screen to sell from the trunk of an Austin Allegro. They wanted their new business to be named after their favourite surf spot in South Africa, so they came up with Saltrock.
The thoughts took off. Due to the overwhelming demand from surfers in the southwestern United States, the brothers were forced to shut down production of the design because of its popularity. Despite expanding to serve consumers across the UK, they have remained steadfast to their Devon roots by continuing to produce surf-inspired designs with freedom at their core. Saltrock distinctive styles are motivated by the things that mean the most to them.
