Donald Ward founded TOG24 in 1958 in West Yorkshire. The textile industry in Dewsbury was at its peak in the late 1950s and “Big D” had enough knowledge as an apprentice millwright fixing looms to start his own business.

The Heckmondwike-based company, which was making shoes at the beginning and then moved into sports bags and football kits in the 1970s, is now famous for its waterproofs and fleeces. The line grew to include skiwear and casual wear as demand for it increased. It was with a heavy heart that they began the production overseas, but it was necessary as otherwise they would have to close their doors.
