In 2000, my husband and I launched their chocolate company, Montezuma’s, with a machine the size of a kitchen sink, buckets of excitement and a lofty goal of introducing chocolate innovation to the stale and conservative British chocolate market. With the exception of that very first machine, not much has changed, and the same childlike excitement they all felt when they first set out to explore South America in 1999 still greets them each morning.
As former lawyers-turned-chocolate-makers, they’ve had to endure some steep learning curves and do a lot of reinventing the wheel, but they do it all out of a genuine desire to make chocolate that they their selves would enjoy eating.
