They invite you to join them on this magnificent 7-night holiday to Ancient Greece, the land where civilization started. Athens, the capital of Greece, is one of the world’s oldest cities, with a rich past dating back more than 3,400 years. They’ll wander through the awe-inspiring hilltop citadel of the Acropolis to admire the incredible Parthenon and the Erechtheion Temple, before exploring the renowned ruins of Delphi on a full day excursion. They’ll continue on to the Peloponnesian hamlet of Tolo, which sits on a picturesque bay. they’ll spend the day touring the Argolis peninsula and the nearby island of Spetses. This vacation includes excursions in which you will have to travel over rough terrain, including hills.
The Plan for the Trip
Day 1: Travel to Athens Greece
After traveling to Athens, Greece, the day has finally arrived! Meeting with Their local representatives and transferring to a hotel was the ideal way to adjust after a long journey. To top it off, They were given the afternoon to settle in, relax, and explore around them – what better way than to visit the National Archaeological Museum? A unique opportunity to uncover some of Ancient Greece’s most valuable artifacts and treasures that have been carefully preserved for centuries. By doing so they can discover the hidden secrets of Greek history, history which dates back thousands of years! There really is no better way to spend one’s first day in Athens!
Day 2: Athens Guided Excursion
Uncover the Highlights of Athens
On a half-day, let me show you around Athens. They travel back in time to unearth the magnificent Acropolis of Athens, a hilltop fortress that once dominated the city. The magnificent Parthenon and the equally impressive Erechtheion, both built in the Doric style, can be found in this marvellous city. When exploring the Acropolis, make sure to put on some durable footwear. The Panathinaikos Stadium, site of the first modern Olympic Games and the only marble arena in the world, will be revealed next.
At Leisure in Athens
Afternoon
You have the remainder of the day at your disposal to continue your exploration of this amazing old city. Visit the House of Parliament and observe the changing of the guards every hour (get there early for the best view); indulge in some Greek specialties while sitting in a café and people-watching. Both of these activities are well worth your time. Their knowledgeable local guide is delighted to make suggestions for interesting places to go and sights to see in the area.
Day 3: Delphi Full Day Guided Tour
Discover Delphi and the Temple of Apollo
Spend a day exploring the ancient ruins of Delphi (180km from Athens). The ancient Greeks believed this spot, home to the Delphic oracle, to be the geographic centre of the globe; today, visitors can see the omphalos (navel stone) that marks the spot. Here, they get to see the remains of the ancient Temple of Apollo, which was built in the fourth century BC and is a stunning sight in its own right. Check out the amazing bronze Charioteer of Delphi, the Naxian Sphinx, and the Statue of Antinous at the Delphi Museum. They leave the city of Athens for the countryside, past cotton farms and rolling hills on their way back to their hotel.
Day 4: Transfer to Tolo and Discover the Corinth Canal
Morning at Leisure in Athens
Before they head to Tolo, you’ll have some opportunity to explore more of Athens this morning. Take a leisurely stroll through the picturesque Plaka neighbourhood and stop for a cup of Greek coffee at one of the many sidewalk cafés. There has never been a better time to check out the Acropolis Museum. Get there early to avoid the crowds and enjoy a drink on the café’s terrace while taking in distant views of the Acropolis. Before they head out on their next adventure, they’ll stop for a quick lunch (not included).
Transfer to Tolo via the Corinth Canal
They have come to the end of their time in Athens. As they head towards Tolo, let’s take in some additional sights (journey time approximately 3 hours). On the way, they make a brief halt so that everyone can take in the magnificent view of the Corinth Canal. The construction of this magnificent waterway, which links the Saronic Canal to the Gulf of Corinth, is a remarkable example of engineering. Come have supper with them! Their arrival at the hotel is just in time for supper there.
Day 5: Uncover the Historic Argolis Region
On this full-day trip of the Argolis region, you will visit Mycenae, Epidaurus, and Nafplio, three of the region’s most famous attractions. Mycenae, a Greek settlement from the second millennium BC that was known in mythology as the home of Agamemnon, is going to be an interesting experience for them. During their guided excursion today, they have the opportunity to experience the marvels of the Epidaurus Amphitheatre, the Palace of Agamemnon, and the Cyclopean walls.
Explore the ruins of the ancient city of Epidaurus and be amazed by the amphitheatre that was built there! Next, they fall in love with the pretty seaport of Nafplio, with its elegant Venetian houses, main centre, bougainvillea-decorated streets, and beautiful port, which is the perfect location to unwind and unwind at one of the cafes while watching the world go by. After a relaxing break here, during which they eat lunch and go shopping, they head back to their hotel in time to take a quick dip in the ocean before heading back to the hotel for supper.
Day 6: Relax More in Tolo
Enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of today to fully take in all that the picturesque fishing community of Tolo has to offer. Relax and unwind with a good novel on one of the beaches, take a stroll along the seashore, indulge in some traditional Greek cuisine at a neighbourhood restaurant, and savour a glass of cool, crisp Greek wine. Their helpful and knowledgeable guide will be delighted to make suggestions for how you should spend this free day.
Day 7: Discover the Island of Spetses
Spetses is sure to win your heart over! This morning they will take a bus to Costa, where they will then board a Sea Taxi for the quick trip to the island of Spetses. Take pleasure in the splendour of this sophisticated and charming island, which is much adored by people from the mainland of Greece who travel here to vacation. Soak up the atmosphere on the shore, marvel at the Venetian mansions and their air of bygone days, and take pleasure in the one-of-a-kind ambiance. In addition, this presents an excellent chance to do some purchasing. After having a peaceful day on the island, they make their way back to the hostel in the afternoon.
Day 8: Return Home from Athens
After eight days of exploring the ruins and crumbling monuments of Athens, it is time to travel back home. In only three hours, they are off for their return flight home, a bittersweet escape from this significant part of history.
